Biographical and/or Historical note

Sabrina Peck is a playwright, director, and choreographer, who has written, produced, and directed numerous plays in New York City and in other cities on the East coast. Peck often works with diverse collaborators for her productions including Bosnian Muslim refugees in Croatia, commodities traders in New York City, and former tobacco workers in Durham, North Carolina.

Peck attended Harvard University, where she graduated with a degree in theatre in 1984. In 1990, she visited the Crow Reservation on a fellowship from Radcliffe College to conduct interviews related to the Crow creation story. During Peck’s time on the Crow reservation, she conducted interviews with Joe Medicine Crow, Henry Real Bird, Mickey Old Coyote, and Tom Yellowtail.

Provenance

Sabrina Peck conducted the interviews in the collection as part of a fellowship through Radcliffe College in 1990 with an emphasis on the Crow creation story. While the creation story was her emphasis, she collected a wide variety of oral histories through her research. Peck held the compact discs and transcripts in her home in New York City prior to their transfer to Little Big Horn College in 2011.
